11 Best Tower Speakers in 2022 [Compared & Tested]

Tower speakers or floor-standing speakers instantly enhance your sound system. They take your home theatre sound to the next level. Tower speakers are renowned for their excellent sound quality and great appearance.

I have researched and found the best tower speakers in the market.

You can position them virtually anywhere. They offer a better hearing range and are better for serious music listening.

Before you check my review on the tower speakers, first understand how to select the right tower speaker.

How to Choose the Right Tower Speakers

Two- vs Three-Way Speakers:

Source

Two-way or three-way speakers are available. Carl Prouty, an Abt Electronics technologist in Illinois, says that two-way speakers send high frequencies to a tweeter and low and mid frequencies to a woofer.

On the other hand, three-way speakers include mid-sized drivers that deliver the low frequencies to a subwoofer. These speakers provide richer sound quality. Moreover, Prouty recommends two-way speakers if you already own or plan to purchase a subwoofer.

“However, if you are using these speakers for music, a three-way is a great choice as they already have a subwoofer built-in,” he says.

Amplifiers:

Source

Depending on your chosen type, an amplifier is required to power your speakers. Ensure that you purchase an amplifier that will work with your speakers unless you plan to buy a different one.

Prouty warns that using an amplifier that doesn’t have enough power to power your speakers may cause problems. You may purchase stand-alone powered floor-standing speakers without an amplifier.

Still, they typically don’t provide the quality of sound you would get using a separate amplifier, according to Prouty.

Audio Quality:

Source

The sensitivity of a speaker, which is measured in decibels, is one more point to consider. It’s also important to remember that a higher sensitivity rating doesn’t necessarily mean better sound quality. A loudspeaker’s quality is determined by the number and kind of features, including tweeters (like cones or domes), materials (for example, silk or aluminum), woofer size, frequency response, and even cabinet quality.

These firms have been creating exceptional loudspeakers for decades, including Klipsch, Polk Audio, and others, according to Sheveloff.

Each person’s ear is unique, and each listening room has its issues, so trying out tower speakers is the most reliable way to purchase them. Some online sellers offer flexible in-home audition policies so that consumers can make informed choices, Sheveloff says.

How I Selected

I have tested and written about technology and domestic goods for various digital publications, including Architectural Digest, CNN Underscored, Tom’s Guide, Bob Vila, Popular Science, The Spruce, Realtor.com, and Apartment Therapy, and The Daily Beast.

To create this list, I’ve tested several floor-standing speakers and Carl Prouty and Micah Sheveloff’s suggestions, in addition to conducting extensive research on each of these brands.

On the other hand, I evaluated these speakers on design, performance, and value for the money, and I’ve included various options at various price points.

Triangle Borea BR08 is the most delicate pair out there. The BR08 is a three-way design with two fibreglass-coned bass drivers assisted by a reflex port on the front and a 25-mm silk dome tweeter.

The cabinets look a little basic but are well-made and neatly finished. Even with low-power amplifiers, you should be able to achieve high volumes since their 8-ohm nominal impedance drops to 3 ohms.

The Diamond series from Wharfedale is an excellent option for budget-standing speakers, but they have yet to make an impressive low-cost tower speaker. Until now. The Diamond 12.3 sounds even better than the renowned 12.1 model, and the 12.1 are widely regarded as five-star speakers.

Despite their size, the 12.3 can breathe a little bit. Thanks to their wide sound dispersion, you do not have to worry about being precisely millimetre perfect.

In addition, they are smooth, even-handed, and wonderfully refined for the money. This tower speaker can downplay hostility without smothering the life out of the music, which makes them great if you want to pair your turntable with a tower speaker without breaking the bank.

  • Simple tower speaker

  • Lacks a bit on the bottom end

Dali has developed a better option than the 3050i speakers, which provide a lot of enjoyment for the money. These speakers are a little smaller than the 3050i’s, but they sound substantially more extensive and more entertaining. They are responsive, musical, and fun if you give them a few days to settle in.

Despite their low-level subtlety, rhythmic precision, and sheer transparency, they can be used to enhance the musical experience. By quickly revealing low-level instrumental strands, they also arrange that data in a concise and organised way. Their size makes them appropriate for most rooms so they won’t dominate the visual space. These outstanding performers are available at a fantastic value.

  • Precise bass
  • Snappy dynamics
Negatives

The Elac Debut 2.0 F5.2 speakers are perfect for cash. They’re dynamically expressive and unfussy about their positioning, as well as robustly built mature and sophisticated. Aramid fibre has been used to reinforce the drivers’ stiffness, resulting in a transparent, detailed sound with a lot of expressiveness.

Some competitors offer a broader range of attributes, but the Debut F5.2 isn’t concerned with providing more; they’re interested in delivering the music as transparently as possible. The result is a compelling listen. The drivers can pick up on the body of an instrument and its peculiarities in how it is played, resulting in a compelling listen. Elac has been making speakers since the 1980s, and this new Debut B5.2 model should be considered one of their most exemplary efforts. At this price, they’re an excellent value.

Positive
  • Great build and finishing
  • Exciting and rhythmic
Negatives
  • Requires a large room to shine

Wharfedale Evo 4.4 are stuffed with so much technology that I had to triple-check their price. Because the Air Motion Transformer tweeters are usually found in more expensive speakers, I was shocked to see them in this relatively economical model. The dome midranges and dual Kevlar bass drivers set these floor-standing loudspeakers apart from their peers.

These speakers seem to be extracting all the data in the recording and conveying it straightforwardly. The complete sound envelope is well tracked, and the leading and trailing edges are well defined, resulting in a sound that is not excessively etched.

While rivals may sound more upfront and exciting, Evo 4.4’s casual approach is more accurate and enjoyable after extended listening. These speakers are built to last.

Summary

Source

Tower Speakers can instantly enhance any sound system. They look good, drawing attention to sound systems and making them stand out rather than blend in, and they also sound phenomenal. Furthermore, they are known for sounding great.

I sincerely hope you find this list of tower speakers helpful.

In conclusion, if you choose one of the 11 tower speakers listed above, you will make a good decision since they are prevalent.
